Verre & Vestige grew out of my long-standing creative practice rooted in material, memory, and transformation.

The studio is the natural evolution of my earlier work under MarzDM Studio, where I explored photography, ceramics, and mixed media with a focus on form, texture, and storytelling. That foundation shaped my ongoing commitment to working by hand and creating objects meant to live in everyday spaces.

I was born and raised outside of Atlanta, Georgia, and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from Georgia State University in 2012. Alongside my artistic education, I spent more than a decade working in the hospitality industry—an experience that deeply influenced my appreciation for craft, rhythm, service, and the rituals that make spaces feel welcoming and alive.

After relocating to Washington, D.C. in 2014, I continued in hospitality while maintaining my creative work. In 2020, the pause brought on by the pandemic created space to fully return to the arts. What followed was a renewed focus on traditional materials and hands-on processes, particularly stained glass and thoughtfully sourced vintage objects.

Today, Verre & Vestige brings together mid-century modern design, geometric stained glass, and curated vintage finds. Each piece reflects a balance of structure and softness, history and modern clarity—objects shaped by preservation, intention, and quiet beauty.

Hi, I’m Maria milton.

I approach my work with intention, patience, and respect for material—allowing process, form, and history to guide each piece.

how i work

MATERIAL FIRST

I work by hand with stained glass and vintage objects, letting the qualities of each material inform the final design rather than forcing a predetermined outcome.

DESIGNED TO BE LIVED WITH

Every piece is created with everyday life in mind—objects meant to exist in real spaces, gather light, and age beautifully over time.

SLOW, THOUGHTFUL PROCESS

From sourcing to fabrication, I value a slower pace that allows for care, refinement, and meaningful connection to the work.
